Prairie View’s Sparks declares for NFL draft

Prairie View defensive lineman Alajujuan Sparks has declared for the NFL Draft. Sparks began his collegiate career at Alabama as an offensive lineman, spending two seasons with the Crimson Tide before transferring to Valdosta State.

Sparks appeared in 28 games as a Blazer, recording 27 tackles ( 13 solo, 14, assisted ), 3 tackles for loss, and 3 passes defensed. His efforts helped Valdosta State advance to the NCAA Division II national championship game in 2024.

After the season he followed Coach Tramaine Jackson, who left Valdosta State to become Prairie View’s head football coach, to Prairie View A&M. His presence in the trenches helped the Panthers become the stingiest scoring defense in the SWAC, allowing just 17.9 points per game. It was this unit that held the conference’s mightiest rushing attack, Jackson State, in the SWAC Championship to just 84 yards, 170 yards below their season average.
